Opportunity
When busy schedules arise breakfast can sometimes become an
impossible activity. Classes, projects, assignments, and all-nighters can all
reduce your time to cook. Therefore, students end up eating at unhealthy fast-food restaurants, which lack vitamins and minerals, while they maintain an
unbalanced macronutrient index. This lack of nutrients has been around for what
seems some time and has been known as the “Freshmen 20”. This is in reference to
the amount of weight the new classmen tend to gain due to the reduction of healthy
meals now that they are on their own. Some individuals turn to supplements and artificial
meal replacement powders, which have unhealthy chemicals, for example, carcinogens
like food coloring. Therefore, I think that there is an opportunity here to
help students, or busy individuals, in have a quick nutritious meal replacement
made from rich antioxidant fruits and other vitamin-rich sources while maintaining
a health macronutrient intake. I am 60 percent sure this opportunity exists.

1)
Have you ever been so busy that you’ve skipped a meal? What have
you done after to accommodate this lack of food?
a.
Yes, sadly it happens to me all the time. I wake up and don’t have
enough time to eat, if I do I miss the bus. What I do is have an early lunch.
2)
When do your lunch and dinner usually consist of?
a.
I usually have
chick-fil-a, I love it! And it's easy to cause its right on campus.
3)
Have you ever been deficient from a vitamin or mineral?
a.
No, not that I know of, but I was told to have vitamin D.
4)
Do you experience fatigue from a lack of food?
a.
I have felt fatigued at the gym, but I usually just finished my
workout anyways. I sometimes just stop and go home.
5)
If you could have an organic meal replacement shake over
supplements company shakes, would you? Why so?
a.
I wouldn’t mind but it depends how much, organic stuff is so
expensive! I would buy it if it was cheap or about the same price as my regular
shake.

1)Have you ever been so busy that you’ve skipped a meal? What
have you done after to candidate this lack of food?
Usually, my weekdays are filled with classes, work, and studying.
There have been days where I lose track of time and remember that I have to
eat once the dining hall is closed. When this occurs I stop by smoothie king on
my way home and buy a protein shake which can serve as a meal replacement.
2)Have you ever been deficient from a vitamin or mineral?
Yes, there are nights where I wake up with a cramp in my leg
which feels like I’m being stabbed in the leg. After conducting research, I
came to the conclusion that this was occurring due to a potassium deficiency.
3)Do you experience fatigue from lack of food?
Yes, but this has only happened when I go over 8 hours without
eating.
4)If you could have an organic meal replacement shake over
supplements company shakes, would you? Why so?
I would choose the organic meal replacement shake over company
shakes. Over the years I have become a lot more conscious of what I am putting
in my body and prefer to stay away from harmful chemicals.
5) When do your lunch and dinner usually consist of?
My lunch is usually peanut butter and jelly sandwich with an
apple and my dinners usually consist of some sort of protein accompanied by
vegetables.
Reflection
I have learned that cost is important. Maintaining a reasonable
cost could potential led to more skeptical costumers. Vitamin deficiencies are
hard to see in a first world country but could still present to be an issue. I
am surprised to see that so many individuals do not have time to eat breakfast.
Summarize
My opportunity seems to still be in there, some adjustments need
to be made but that will come with time.
Hello! I really like the opportunity that you thought of. I have a similar concept but with something related to meal prep. I think that living an active life is something many people do such as working and working out. I think it is truly hard to focus on having three meals a day. Sometimes when we are on the run all the time, we forget that there are things that we cannot change and must get something "quick" like fast food. I find this truly real when I am driving for long periods of time because there are not many choices for something fast. I really liked your post overall! Good job!
ReplyDeleteHi, I really like what your opportunity consists of. As we continue to advance in this modern age, it’s easy to forget that your body likes easy and simple foods. Problem is that these meals take time that the modern person often does not have time to cook. I like the idea of attacking a person's vitamins deficiency as its easier to tailor the food to a person who may need more of a nutrient.
ReplyDeleteHey Cesar, I really enjoyed reading this opportunity of yours. As a college student, I can definitely relate to skipping meals due to my busy schedule. In fact, I have actually started the switch to making shakes in the morning rather than cooking breakfast. However, I am also guilty of going through drive-thrus too much. I think it is a smart idea to meal prep. All it takes is one night out of the week to prep your meals for the next couple of days so you don't have to worry about making a meal every day... it will already be made for you! Great post!
