Solving The Problem

Opportunity:
Fitness has gained a lot of attention over the past few years. This attention has been prompted towards a younger market with new supplement products, new gym locations, and Instagram models promoting their physiques; But, this has left a saturated market with thousands of companies all competing for the same consumer. Targeting young adults has been their bread and butter; however, this leaves the elderly out of the equation and creates a great opportunity. Also, something we all forget is that there is a lot of money to be made in the heath industry, say hello to Medicare.

Product/Service:
The product/service I want to provide consists of a facility located in Tampa-St. Petersburg, FL., where 18.7 percent of the population are 65 years old and above. This facility would be tailored to keep older individuals active with programs like Pilates, yoga for elderly, active game, and mentally stimulating activities. These programs would be funded privately depending on member statues, which would be based on a monthly or yearly fee. The public sector of the company would run on “Medicare”. For those who don’t know, “Medicare is the federal health insurance program created in 1965 to provide health coverage for Americans aged 65 and older”. This would provide clients with necessary physical therapies, injury rehabilitations, government implemented meal plans, all for an in-house physical therapy department. Transportation would be provided for those who are not able to attend through their own means. Products like healthy pre-made shakes would be promoted and sold independently and could potentially hit local stores for elderly individuals to have access to when grocery shopping. The company could extend its resources into lobbying for government founding of its other privately founded activities.

  1. HI Cesar, I agree with your point as more and more of the boomers begin to stray away from working and begin to spend more time relaxing and enjoying life. As more of the aging population begins to want to rest and slow down, an opportunity will continue to grow. I think that if you want to know what the customers want that it’s important to interview potential clients and gather their inputs.

  2. Hey Cesar, I agree with your opportunity 100%. I believe that fitness is very important. In fact, for my 7A assignment, my product relates to health and nutrition, so I can sort of relate to your idea. I think that targeting the elderly is a very smart move as staying in shape is important for them as well. I agree with Erick's statement that you should start to interview these potential clients so that you gain some more knowledge about what they want and how you can start making this a reality. Nice job.
